SANCTUARY FEATURES REACTION TO RELIGIOUS FREEDOM RULING
The Summer 2014 edition of Sanctuary features the victory rally in Federal Plaza after the U.S. Supreme Court handed down a ruling in favor of religious freedom in the Hobby Lobby case. The TV news magazine program also takes you to Catholic Family Day at Six Flags Great America. And you can see how several parishes celebrated sainthood for Pope John XXIII and Pope John Paul II. Sanctuary will air Sunday, July 27, at 12:30 p.m. on ABC7.
Sanctuary is the Archdiocese of Chicago's TV news magazine program that airs quarterly on ABC 7 Chicago. The program is hosted by Fr. Greg Sakowicz, pastor of St. Mary Parish in Evanston. Sanctuary is produced by the Archdiocesan Office of Radio and Television and is taped on location throughout the Chicago area.
On December 21, 2013, Cardinal Francis George, Archbishop of Chicago, celebrated a milestone anniversary --- he was ordained a priest 50 years ago. In this video, produced by the Archdiocese of Chicago's Office of Radio and Television, Cardinal George offers personal reflections on his life as a minister of God.
This report in Sanctuary includes highlights of a concert to support the work of the Archdiocese of Chicago's immigration office, a report from the Broadview Detention Center where families try to say "good-bye" to loved ones about to be deported, and comments from Cardinal Francis George about immigration reform.
