Cardinal George will join Fr. Jordan Kelly, OP, Director of the Office of Evangelization, in leading three “Visits for Evangelization” scheduled in the Archdiocese to inform Catholics about evangelization efforts and to receive their input. Cardinal George will offer comments on the 12th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops and its theme, The Word of God in the Life and Mission of the Church that took place in Rome in October 2008.

$1 Million to support Catholic School Families
Emergency Scholarships for Parents Losing Jobs
CHICAGO, IL (January 30, 2009) –Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I., Archbishop of Chicago, announced today that the Archdiocese of Chicago and the Big Shoulders Fund have established a one million dollar Emergency Scholarship Fund for Catholic school families who have experienced job losses since the beginning of the school year.

Chicago, IL (January 22, 2009) – Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I, Archbishop of Chicago, will participate in Parish Leadership/Evangelization Day, February 7, at Maria High School, 6727 South California Avenue in Chicago. Cardinal George will dialog with participants during a question and answer session following lunch and will present a workshop titled “A Universal Church Speaks to a Global Society” beginning at 2:40 p.m. The Cardinal will be the celebrant at the closing liturgy.

Chicago, IL (January 16, 2009) – Over 250 teens and young adults from the Archdiocese of Chicago will depart for Washington, DC next Tuesday and Wednesday, January 20 and 21, to attend the annual March for Life and related events. Two special ‘Send Off” Masses will mark their departure.
