SUSAN BURRITT JOINS ARCHDIOCESE OF CHICAGO AS DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS, PUBLIC RELATIONS AND MARKETING FOR THE OFFICE OF CATHOLIC SCHOOLS

CHICAGO (August 26, 2004) – The Archdiocese of Chicago announced today that Susan Burritt has joined the Archdiocese as Director of Communications, Public Relations and Marketing for the Office of Catholic Schools. She reports to Nicholas Wolsonovich, PhD., Archdiocesan Superintendent of Catholic Schools.

Burritt will be responsible for the strategic direction and development of all internal and external communications, public relations and marketing efforts to promote the mission and operation of elementary and secondary Catholic schools, including Office of Catholic Schools public information, publications, and local and Archdiocesan school marketing, promotions and special events. She replaces Sr. Dawn Tomaszewski, S.P., who assumes responsibility as marketing and communications director for the Archdiocese’s new Guerin College Preparatory High School in River Grove

“Susan Burritt brings an exciting mix of experience and knowledge of the entire Chicagoland market to this position,” said Superintendent Wolsonovich. “She will add a new dimension in our continuing progress to reach everyone who plays a part in the life of our schools, especially the parents, teachers and communities that we serve.”

A career marketing and public relations executive with expertise in corporate communications, brand marketing and strategic promotions, Burritt was an independent communications consultant before joining the Archdiocese. Prior to that she served as Group Manager for Public Relations and Special Events at Chicago’s Burrell Communications Group where she managed Fortune 500 clients’ national and local sponsorships, promotions and marketing campaigns. Previously she was director of membership and development at the Union League Club of Chicago. Formerly vice president of marketing at LaSalle Northwest National Bank, she was responsible for advertising, public relations, and communications as well as being actively involved with compliance and community relations.

A Chicago native, Burritt received her MBA from Dominican University in River Forest and is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago.

A resident of Oak Park, she is married to Chris Burritt, an instructor in the film/video department at Columbia College. The Burritts are members of St. Edmund Catholic Parish in Oak Park.
