BISHOP ABRAMOWICZ SEMINARY’S 4TH ANNUAL BENEFIT BANQUET
Tickets Now Available for September 9 Event Honoring Cardinal George

Chicago, IL (August 10, 2007)—Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I., will be honored for his ten years as Archbishop of Chicago at the Bishop Abramowicz Seminary Program’s Fourth Annual Benefit Banquet, at 5 p.m. Sunday, September 9 at the Marriott Hotel, 540 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago.

The Bishop Abramowicz Seminary Program was founded in 1999 as a house of formation to recruit Polish seminarians to complete their studies in the Archdiocese of Chicago. With the approval of their respective bishops, program participants move to Chicago to learn English and become familiar with American culture in preparation for further theological studies at the University of Saint Mary of the Lake / Mundelein Seminary.

Currently, 13 Polish seminarians are studying at Mundelein Seminary. In the past eight years, 18 men who have gone though the Bishop Abramowicz Seminary Program have been ordained for the Archdiocese of Chicago.

Individual tickets for the annual fund-raiser are $175 and can be purchased by contacting Tomasz Pels at 312-666-3675. Proceeds will help fund a $1 million challenge grant started in 2004 to establish an endowment fund for the program that, to date, has raised nearly $750,000.
