ARCHDIOCESE OF CHICAGO HIRES REAL ESTATE BROKER FOR PASTORAL CENTER TRANSACTION
Chicago-Based Brokerage Firm L.J. Sheridan & Co. to Represent the Archdiocese
Chicago, IL (October 12, 2007) – It was announced today that the Archdiocese of Chicago has selected the real estate firm of L.J. Sheridan & Co. to handle the sale of the 155 East Superior Street building that currently houses Pastoral Center offices. The seven-story, 77,350 square-foot building sits on 16,400 square-feet of land on the southwest corner of St. Clair and Superior Streets. Current zoning would allow a new mixed-use development of approximately 197,000 square-feet.
For the last four years, the Archdiocese of Chicago has been considering various options for dealing with long-term space needs for the Pastoral Center while streamlining operations and consolidating locations. It was determined that the Archdiocese sell the 155 East Superior Street property and use the historic Archbishop Quigley Preparatory Seminary High School buildings and the property at 739 East 35th Street as the two sites for the Pastoral Center.
The Archdiocese’s renovation of the former Quigley buildings at 103 East Chestnut that began in June of this year, continues to move ahead on schedule. Renovation at the 35th Street site also continues on schedule with new construction set to begin this fall. A number of Archdiocesan departments and ministries that are now housed at the Pastoral Center and other locations will be consolidated into the renovated building upon completion.
Pastoral Center employees are expected to make the move to the two sites by November 2008.
