CATHOLIC PARISHES IN COOK AND LAKE COUNTIES HOLD PRAYER EVENTS
TO MARK 36TH ANNIVERSARY OF ROE V. WADE

Chicago, IL (January 16, 2009) – Many prayer services and vigils will be held in parishes throughout Cook and Lake Counties between January 20 and 24 in conjunction with the annual “March for Life” that takes place each year in Washington, DC and culminates in a silent prayer vigil on the steps of the Supreme Court.


The following parishes are hosting prayer vigils and events between January 20 and 24.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS - St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N. Arlington Hts. Rd., will host the Dignity of Life Mass, a tri-parish Mass sponsored by St. Edna, St. James and Our Lady of the Wayside in Arlington Heights, with a candle-light procession and reception after Mass on January 22 at 7:30 p.m. Contact person: Evelyn Getty, St. Edna Respect Life Coordinator, 847-398-3362.

CHICAGO - A one-hour Vigil for Life with Rosary and Benediction will be conducted at St. Pascal Church, 3935 N. Melvina, on January 22, after adoration at 6 p.m. Contact: MaryAnn Heywood, 773-286-6170.

CHICAGO - St. Tarcissus Parish, 6020 W. Ardmore Ave., will conduct aHoly Hour January 22 at 7 p.m. Contact person: Mary Daubach, 773 631-2687.

DES PLAINES - A Prayer Vigil and recitation of the rosary, will be held at St. Zachary Parish, 567 West Algonquin Rd., on January 20, beginning at 7 p.m., following Eucharistic Adoration. Contact: Sally Willer, 847-956-7020.

GLENVIEW - Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 1775 Grove Street, will conduct a Holy Hour for Life in the church followed by cake and coffee in McDonnell Hall on January 22 at 6:30 p.m. Paul B. Linton, pro-life lawyer, author and special counsel to the Thomas More Society will speak about where we stand with the laws and issues, what we have achieved, and what the current challenges are to the pro-life movement. He will also share what can be done to promote the pro-life movement at the national level and to win the debate in the public forum. Contact: 847-729-1525.

LAKE FOREST - Members of St. Mary Parish will recite the rosary at 6:40 p.m. preceding the Holy Hour from 7 to 8 p.m. on January 21.

NILES - The Knights of Columbus' Respect Life Night Mass with Benediction and the rosary will be held at St. John Brebeuf Church, 8307 N. Harlem, on January 21 at 7:30 p.m. Contact: Patricia, 847-729-7644

NILES - A Holy Hour and Benediction will be held at St. Isaac Jogues Parish, 8101 Golf Rd., on January 22 at 7 p.m. Contact: Dee Stanton, 847-966-1180.

NORTHBROOK - Exposition, the Rosary for Life, Meditation and Benediction will be held before the 5 p.m. Mass at St. Norbert Parish, 1809 Walters Ave. Contact: E. Yosick, 847-498-5169.

OAK FOREST - Eucharistic Day of Prayer with adoration throughout the day and Benediction at 4 p.m. will take place at St. Damian Parish, 5520 W. 155th St., on January 22, after the 9 a.m. Mass. Contact: Ken Chlopecki, 708-535-3516 evening; 847-975-5648 day.
