PROGRAM FOR FAMILY MEMBERS OF THOSE SEXUALLY ABUSED AS CHILDREN
Archdiocesan Office of Assistance Ministry to Sponsor Group Program
Chicago, IL (March 6, 2009) - The Archdiocese of Chicago and the Office of Assistance Ministry will sponsor a program for family members of those who have been sexually abused as children by priests or deacons of the Catholic Church. The four-session, Saturday morning program begins March 14, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Archbishop Quigley Center, 835 North Rush Street in Chicago. A Licensed Clinical Social Worker will conduct the group at no cost to the participants.
The 90-minute sessions will include open discussion and sharing among participants and information about topics, including how the abuse affects the family, the healing process, long-term effects of sexual abuse on victims and their families and reestablishing trust, communication, affection and hope.
