ARCHDIOCESE OF CHICAGO LAUNCHES NEW iPad APP
More than 1,000 Photos Showcase Over 350 Catholic Churches
in Chicago and Suburbs
Chicago, IL (September 21, 2011) – The Archdiocese of Chicago has launched a stunning new iPad app that showcases the architectural beauty, history and treasured art works that form the sacred worship places Catholics in Chicago and the suburbs call their home parish.
Rich, visual images of interiors and exteriors from more than 350 Catholic churches, combined with brief parish descriptions, historical information and summaries of unique treasures ranging from magnificent stained glass windows, elegant mosaics and hand-carved altars, to tapestries created from fragments of old vestments and simple parish gardens, are remarkably displayed in this very user-friendly app.
The text and parish photos contained in the app, Archdiocese of Chicago Churches, were included in the book, Archdiocese of Chicago, A Journey of Faith, published in 2006.
Archdiocese of Chicago Churches for iPad can be downloaded and purchased for $4.99 from the iTunes App Store. Archdiocesan proceeds from the app will benefit the Cardinal’s Scholarship Fund.
