ARCHDIOCESAN PARISHES TO PARTICIPATE IN ECUMENICAL PRAYER
SERVICES AND EVENTS
FOR CELEBRATION OF THE ANNUAL
WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY
January 18 to 25, 2012
Chicago, IL (January 12, 2012) – Archdiocesan parishes, working in cooperation with the Office for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs, will join with other Christian denominations in ecumenical celebrations during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity beginning Wednesday, January 18. In addition to prayer at individual churches, there will be ecumenical services throughout Chicago and the metropolitan area. All are invited to attend these services and events.
The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity services and events include:
Wednesday, January 18 – 9:30 am
St. Mary Parish, 126 Herrick Road, Riverside, event with St. Paul Episcopal Church.
Wednesday, January 18 – 7 p.m.
Event with, event with and St. Gertrude Parish and Epworth United Methodist Church at Northshore Baptist Church, 5244 North Lakewood Avenue, Chicago.
Thursday, January 19 - 7 p.m.
St. Christopher Parish, 4130 West 147th, Midlothian, event with St. Stephen Lutheran Church of Midlothian.
Saturday, January 21 – 7 p.m.
Focolare Center, 5001 South Greenwood , Chicago, prayer service preceded by a Potluck Supper at 5:30 p.m.
Sunday, January 22 - 4 p.m.
Event with St. Joseph Parish in Libertyville with First Presbyterian, United Methodist, St. Lawrence Episcopal and Libertyville Covenant churches at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 29700 No. St. Mary’s Road, Libertyville.
Tuesday, January 24 - 9:15 a.m.
Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women and Church Women United event, Christian Unity Breakfast at the Rosemont Hilton, (Near O’Hare).
Tuesday, January 24 - 7 p.m.
Northwestern University Alice S. Millar Chapel, 1870 Sheridan Road, Evanston, event with St. Nicholas Parish in Evanston along with St. James Armenian, Grace Lutheran and Northminster

Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1017 North LaSalle Boulevard, Chicago, will present a brief talk on The Orthodox Temple as Icon of the Universe.
Tuesday, January 24 - 7:30 p.m.
Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1017 North LaSalle Boulevard, Chicago, will host an ecumenical panel of noted clergy discussing Visions of Christian Unity. Participating parishes include Holy Name Cathedral, St. Stanislaus Kostka, Chicago Temple Methodist Church, and St. James Episcopal Cathedral.

St. Ferdinand Parish, 5900 West Barry Avenue, Chicago, Ecumenical Prayer Service.
Begun in 1908, the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is celebrated each year in cities and towns
across the country and around the world. The Ecumenism Metro Chicago Committee comprised of 17 Christian traditions is facilitating local ecumenical observances.
The Office for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs of the Archdiocese of Chicago works to foster the ecumenical goal of the visible unity of Christians, to deepen interfaith relations with Jews and Muslims, and to nurture understanding among all religious groups through dialogue, formation, prayer, and collaboration in civic affairs.
