"TO TEACH WHO CHRIST IS" CAMPAIGN FOR CATHOLIC EDUCATION AND FAITH FORMATION LAUNCHED WITH $82.5 MILLION MAJOR GIFT DONATIONS
Chicago, IL (June 7, 2013) – Francis Cardinal George, OMI, Archbishop of Chicago, announced at a press conference on Wednesday, June 5, that $82.5 million, or 82.5 percent of the $100 million major gift goal for the To Teach Who Christ Is Campaign, was pledged prior to the launch of this major fund-raising effort. The Campaign will benefit Catholic education and faith formation in Chicago and Cook and Lake counties. The three-year Campaign, with an overall goal of $350 million, is composed of two parts; a major gift effort with a $100 million goal and a parish-based campaign with a $250 million goal. The first wave of the parish Campaign will begin this July. Sixty percent of the funds raised in the parishes will remain within the parishes and 40 percent will be distributed through the Archdiocese.
