RELIGIOUS LEADERS LAUNCH NEW IMMIGRATION REFORM CAMPAIGN
Priests for Justice for Immigrants, a group of more than 200 priests, and the Sisters and Brothers of Immigrants, a network of over 180 sisters and brothers representing 59 religious orders, along with immigrant families and native-born supporters have launched a new campaign to bring attention to the urgency of comprehensive immigration reform. A news conference was held at Holy Name Cathedral to announce the "Together as Brothers and Sisters" campaign.

Chicago Joins National Memorial Day Salute to Men and Women in Military
Chicago, IL (May 14, 2013) – Francis Cardinal George, OMI, Archbishop of Chicago, auxiliary bishops and priests will celebrate Memorial Day with Field Masses at 37 Catholic cemeteries on Monday, May 27. This year, Chicago joins a national program, “Serving God and Country: A Memorial Day Salute to Our Heroes” developed by the Catholic Cemetery Conference, to honor men and women of the armed forces who died while serving, and active military and veterans.

FOR ARCHDIOCESE OF CHICAGO
Ceremonies at Holy Name Cathedral and St. John Cantius Parish
Chicago, IL (May 13, 2013) – Francis Cardinal George, OMI, Archbishop of Chicago, will ordain ten new priests at 10 a.m., on Saturday, May 18, at Holy Name Cathedral, State and Superior Streets in Chicago. Later this month, Cardinal George will ordain a priest for the Archdiocese of Chicago for service in the Canons Regular of Saint John Cantius. The men, ranging in age from 26 to 53, include six from the Chicago area and one each from Haiti, Mexico, Poland and Uganda.

Parishes to Seek Signatures on 100,000 Postcards
Chicago, IL (May 9, 2013) – Parishes throughout the Archdiocese in Cook and Lake counties have requested 100,000 postcards to send to U.S. Senators and Representatives to show that Catholics and other supporters of immigrants want our elected officials to enact meaningful and compassionate immigration reform legislation. The request for 100,000 postcards for parishioners was made by 129 parishes with 35 percent of these parishes located in non-immigrant communities.

FOURTEEN MEN TO BE ORDAINED AS DEACONS
Chicago, IL (May 8, 2013) – Francis Cardinal George, OMI, Archbishop of Chicago, will ordain fourteen men as permanent deacons at 2:15 p.m., on Sunday, May 19, at Holy Name Cathedral, State and Superior Streets in Chicago.
